Little Vinegar Cup: Latin and Greek Mnemonics for Learning the Musculoskeletal System In-Person
Little Vinegar Cup is a one hour workshop that shows M1s how Latin and Greek word parts make anatomy names easier to learn and find. We’ll learn how to translate common anatomy terms (like acetabulum - "Little Vinegar Cup" or sartorius - "mendor or tailor") to create mental images of the muscle and bone and quickly recall their location. You'll be able to translate common root words for anatomical parts, which are often repeated in terms across the body (such as fovea - "a small pit"). Understanding directional and spatial Latin will help you predict the location of anatomical parts on the body (supraspinatus and infraspinatus - over and below the spine of the scapula). You'll leave with a "cheat sheet" of Latin and Greek vocabulary of MSK terms to guide your study. Email Ask.Librarian@wmed.edu to RSVP or register here online.
